Passover begins this year on MONDAY night, March 29th. The Torah prohibits the possession of Chometz (leavened products and utensils) as well as its consumption during Passover. Furthermore, Chometz owned by a Jew during Passover is unconditionally forbidden for use at any time from that date on, even after Pesach. If, therefore, one cannot dispose of all Chometz before the approach of Passover, one must arrange for "Mechirat Chometz" or the sale of that Chometz to a non-Jew. Since the sale of Chometz is an involved and complicated procedure, the Rabbi will be glad to arrange for its sale on your behalf as well as answer any questions concerning this procedure. You may see him personally any day at the synagogue and in the evening by appointment. This year the Chometz will be sold on MONDAY, March 29th at 9:00 AM.
Those unable to see the Rabbi in person should submit this form to the Rabbi, completed with the requested information, or FAX it at (514) 683-1867, so that it reaches him no later than THURSDAY, MARCH 25th . Once again this year you can use this online form.
